Police detain six persons in connection with murder of Sabar girl

Jamshedpur, Sept. 2: The 14-year-old Sabar girl whose body was unearthed from Mankocha village in Ghurabandha police station area in Ghatshila sub-division on Saturday has actually fell victim to a confusion following disappearance of another Sabar girl of her age.

The police have detained six persons, including four women for interrogation in connection with the murder of the minor girl.
According to police, the murder victim and other girl had disappeared from their village Mankocha in Bhalki Panchayat on August 28 afternoon.

” As per our investigation the murder victim had returned home alone the same evening, leading the father of the other girl to suspect foul play with her daughter. The man caught hold of the murder victim on the way to her house and took her to a nearby junlge, where he raped her. In the night, he brought back the girl to his own house and spread the message among the family members that she done something wrong with his daughter, without giving the victim a chance to speak,” said a police officer.

The police officer said after hearing about that the murder victim had some hand behind the other girl’s disappearance, all the family members started beating her. Finally she was beaten to death. The next morning the assailants took the body in the nearby jungle and hung it tied with a saree so as to prove it to be a suicidal death.
After a day the villagers brought down the body with the help of some local influential persons on August 30. Subsequently, the body was buried outside the village without informing the police about this all.

On Saturday, when a police team arrived at Mankocha village following the death of a 14-year-old girl, the police also went over to the spot where the body was hanging.

The police found a saree which the villagers had left at the spot while bringing down the body. It was after searching for the person whom the saree belonged to the police reached upto the assailants’ family. One of the family members, when interrogated, had given in and had narrated the tragic episode.
However, the girl who had disappeared had returned home on August 30 along with her lover.
