One arrested, two on the run, pistol seized
Jamshedpur, Jan 4: The district police have claimed to have cracked the mystery behind the twin murder case at Shankosai and other cases of loot incidents at Jugsalai and Parsudih by arresting Chote Prasad, hailing from Bihar, who has confessed to have committed all the crimes along with his associates and are involved in several incidents of cash loot, attempt to murder and killing in the past few weeks in the city.
Prasad along with Maya Bhagat and Mantu Gupta committed the murder and loot incident. Acting on a tip off the police arrested Prasad from Kitadih and recovered 9 mm pistols, Bolero car, two cartridges, Rs 5700 cash, two cell phones and 15 chargers. The main accused Maya and Mintu , who are a resident of Siwan, Are still absconding.
The police have informed that the arrested gang was behind the January 1, 2014 double murder case of Sankosai under Olidih police station area.
Maya Bhagat alias Munna Sao alias Lula, originally resident of Akopur in Siwan district of Bihar, is the main accused who along with his two accomplices Mintu Gupta and Chote Prasad, both originally hails from Siwan, executed the crime under various police station areas of the city.
All the gang members are in their thirties.
Senior superintendent of police, Amol V Homkar said as the city was dipped with festive fervour of New Year, the accused struck at a liquor shop and Sai Trader at Jugsalai.
The robbers loot Rs 10,000 from liquor shop at Parsudih and Rs 50,000 from shop at Jugsalai. The police had beefed up security arrangements and carried special checks at the exit points.
�This was the same gang that was involved in September 29 (2013) cash 4.15 Lakh loot from businessman Umesh Agarwal in Sundernagar police station area,� said SSP Homkar to the press on Saturday evening.
�The arrested youth has accepted to be a part of the gang and commit these crimes. We have also sent a team to Bihar to arrest the remaining two,� said SSP.
Police officials said that necessary attempts were being made to arrest the remaining two members of the gang.
The SSP claimed that Lula gang had killed Sankosai residents Roshan Prasad alias Baiju, newly married girl Shakuntala Mishra, a neighbor of Baiju, and injured Baiju�s friend Sonu Razak without any motive.
�Actually the gang members picked up fight with an unidentified Sankosai group over eve-teasing issue in the morning of January 1 in Potka and in a bid to retaliate the gang members barged into Laxminagar in Sankosai on the same evening and killed the two people and injured one,� said the SSP adding that the gang somehow got the hint that the group is a resident of Sankosai area whom they are looking for.
The family of Mintu Gupta, one of the accomplices, had travelled to Ma Rankini temple in Potka and it was while returning that they picked up fight with some unknown youths after Mintu�s sister complained of eve-teasing.
�On the same night (January 1) Lula gang snatched Rs 40,000 from an iron bar trader at gunpoint in Jugsalai and subsequently snatched 15,000 from a wine shop in Pursudih on the gunpoint,� said the police.
It was same gang that shot at and injured Sidhgora resident Yashpal Singh following a ruckus over petty issue, said the police.
�The main accused Lula and one of his accomplish is absconding however massive raids are on at suspected hideouts to arrest them,� said the SSP producing Chote Prasad before the reporters.
The police claimed to have cracked the criminal incidents of the recent past on the revelations made by Chote Prasad.
The police have recovered a pistol, two live cartridges, Bolero jeep, motorcycle, two mobile phones, sack full of wine bottles and cash Rs 5700 from the Chote Prasad.
Lula and Mintu have been to jail in various criminal cases in Siwan in the past while Chote is an accused of criminal cases in Bahragora police station.
The gang had been living in the city for the past six months and was shifting the base frequently. It is learnt that Mintu Gupta�a family had recently arrived in the city to stay.
