Three assailants arrested, six fire-arms seized

: The district police have cracked the transporter Dalbir Singh Virey murder�s case by arresting three assailants from different parts of the city.

The police have also succeeded in seizing six fire-arms comprising three sophisticated pistols from the possession of the assailants. Apart from the fire-arms, the police have seized 23 cartridges, two knives, two cell-phones and four bikes.

Those arrested were identified as Kunal Sharma, Ashok Rai both residents of Burmamines and Naveen Kumar Pandey, a resident of Telco.

Addressing a press conference, senior superintendent of police Amol V Homkar said that seven others, including the main accused Prakash Mishra are still absconding and the police are trying to nab the absconders by sending separate teams out of the state.

He pointed out separate police teams have gone out of the Jharkhand in search of the absconders, and they will be behind the bar soon.

Homkar said that murder of Prabir Jha committed allegedly by Prakash and his father Laxmikant Mishra, and the subsequent role of Virey in getting Prakash and Laxmikant convicted in a court of law was the main reason behind Virey�s murder.

Prabir who was a close aide of Dalbir was abducted and murdered at Chandil in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district in 2008.

The police had arrested Prakash and his father who were convicted in Prabir murder case in 2011. He pointed out a month ago, both Prakash and Laxmikant had come out of the Ghaghidih Central Jail on parole and conspired to kill the transporter.

The SSP said about 10 assailants, including Prakash and Laxmikant were involved in Dalbir’s murder. He said some of the assailants had been brought from a neighbouring state for the purpose of murder.

“It was planned murder as Prakash organised a meeting with his associates and started getting information about Dalbir�s movement. So that his shooters can target him,� noted the police official.

The SSP revealed that the assailants had surrounded Virey and opened fire at him, causing the victim to fall on the ground on being sustaining five bullets, but as he fell two of the assailants attacked him with knives too.

Forty-six-year-old Dalbir who had an old enmity with Prakash Mishra and Laxmikant Mishra over rivalry for establishing supremacy at Jemco area was shot dead at Jemco under Telco police station area on Tuesday.
