Police constable suspended over undertrial escape from Jamshedpur bus terminus

Jamshedpur, Nov 13:  Varun Mahto alias Dukhu Mahto, an undertrial prisoner of MGM detainee ward of Sakchi police station area, escaped from the auto by dodging policeman Ramji Ram near Sitaramdera bus stand on the morning of 10 November. In this case, Senior Superintendent of Police M Tamil Vanan suspended policeman Ramji Ram on the basis of a report of Sakchi police station in-charge Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The SSP said that there would be further departmental inquiry in the matter. A letter will also be written to Chaibasa SP for action against two constables of Chaibasa district who brought the prisoner of Chaibasa to MGM ward. It is noteworthy that the absconding prisoner is a resident of Rajkharsawan in Seraikela Kharsawan district. The police of Sonuwa police station of West Singhbhum district had arrested him from Porahat on 9 November 2018 on charges of collecting levy, pasting posters and spreading panic in the name of Naxalites.
He was brought to MGM Hospital on October 31 for better treatment after his health deteriorated in Chaibasa Jail. In the whole case, the negligence of the in-charge of the captive ward and the policemen posted there has been exposed. On the complaint of policeman Ramji Ram, an FIR has been registered against the prisoner who ran away at Sakchi police station.
