Jamshedpur, Aug 26: In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old police constable was arrested for raping a fellow constable at an quarantine centre under Sidhgora police station area on Tuesday night.
According to information, the incident took place in the evening of August 21. The victim lodged an FIR with the Sidhgora police station on August 24. After this the police came into action and carried a probe into the allegation. The victim was sent for a medical examination for confirmation of the rape.
The victim, a widow and mother of two children, is 32 year old. She was selected for the job in the police department as constable after her husband, who was an assistant sub-inspector, was killed on duty in Palamu five years ago. The victim resides at Golmuri police line like the accused constable. The accused Anil Kumar Singh was, however, posted in Sidhogora.
� As her the victim�s statement, the rape of took place at the Professional College quarantine centre in Sidhgora where she along with another lady constable and the accused were posted at the quarantine centre.
According to deputy superintendent of police (Composite Control Room), Arvind Kumar who probed the case said that at about 6.30 pm on August 21 the other lady constable was asleep.
” When the victim was alone, the accused said to her that the place has been affected by the coronavirus at the ground floor and suggested that she go upstairs where there would be fresh air. After convincing the victim, the accused constable led her to the third floor of the four-storeyed Professional College building and subsequently entered into a room. Soon after entering the room, the accused caught hold of her and then raped her. When she protested, the accused constable threatened to kill her children and also asked her not to say anything to anyone,” said the DSP (CCR).
