Police bust gang involved in mobile and bike theft in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 14: In a major breakthrough city police on Tuesday busted a gang involved in mobile and bike theft at different places.�

Adressing the media East Singhbhum SSP Anoop Birtharay informed that they have arrested Raju Prasad (23) a resident of Janta Basti and Rajesh Gorai (19) a resident of Khuntaidih, both under Sonari thana who used to sell stolen mobiles. On the other hand, 19-year-old youth Rahul Karuwa, a resident of Sidhu Kanhu Basti under Burmamines thana was nabbed yesterday night.

�Acting on a complaint from on June 21 from Ravishanker Kunkal, a resident of Khuntadih in Sonari that miscreants had stolen his mobile phone along with mobile phones of his friends while they were sleeping in house on June 20 late night. The complainant claimed that six mobile phones, ATM cards and cash of Rs 3,000 were stolen from their house. Acting on this the Sonari thana OC, Naresh Prasad Sinha constituted a team and started raiding after lodging case against unidentified persons,� said Birtharay.

 Police managed to catch hold of Raju Prasad and Rajesh Gorai from their homes yesterday night and managed to recover the six mobile phones.

 �We are still grilling them to find the ATM cards and cash. The miscreants were planning to sell the stolen mobile phones when they were caught by the police,� said SSP.

In another instance, Burmamines managed to solve a complaint of mobile theft lodged by Burmamines Security Flat resident Rashmi Singh.

�A complaint was filed from Burmamines Security Flat resident Rashmi Singh from her house on June 20 night. Police put the mobile on surveillance and finally managed to get hold of Rahul Karuwa yesterday night while he had come to his home in Sidhu Kanhu Basti. We recovered the two stolen mobile phones along with two other stolen phones from his possession,� said SSP.

 Meanwhile, police also nabbed two persons involved in bike theft from Kadma, Sonari, Bistupur and Sakchi area.

 �We got tip-off of we sent a team near the Marine Drive and got hold of the two youths while another managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness leaving the bike. The arrested youths have been identified as Piyush Mishra, a resident of Balichela, Sonari and Mohammed Khan, a resident of ME School Road, Jugsalai. We recovered three bikes. We are trying to nab other members of their gang,� added SSP.
