Jamshedpur : Police on Thursday attached the properties of one more associate of gangster Akhilesh Singh at Nirmal Nagar under Sitaramdera police station as the accused was involved in the Upendra Singh murder case. The associate is Pankaj Singh (35) son of Ram Janam Singh who is an ex-serviceman.
A team led by Sitaramdera’s officer-in-charge, Rameswar Oraon arrived in front of the Ram Janam Singh’s house at about 10 am and began executing the `kurki-jabti’ warrant obtained against Pankaj.
The articles that the police have attached include beds, sofa set, almirah, television, air-cooler, refrigerators and ceiling fans. The attached properties were dumped partially at the Sitaramdera police station premises and rest of them at the inspector’s office located in the adjoining area.
Oraon said they attached the properties of Pankaj Singh because he has absconded after his name figured in the Upendra Singh murder case.
” As per our information accompanied with Harish Singh, Pankaj was present on the civil court premises in Sitaramdera on November 30 afternoon, when Upendra Singh was murdered. He was keeping an eye on the police officials and also on Upendra’s men at the court premises,” said Oraon.
Notably, transporter Upendra Singh was gunned down by a gang of armed criminals at bar building on the civil court premises in Sitaramdera on November 30. The transporter’s murder was allegedly conspired by gangster Akhilesh Singh with the help of his associates.
Singh had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 assembly polls from Jamshedpur West seat on a JMM ticket, His bodyguards also opened fire to counter the attack.
About 14 rounds of firing were exchanged from both sides. Singh is known as flourishing businessman, who ran a restaurant at Sakchi bus terminus as well as a transport unit.
Just six days after Upendra’s murder, his close associate Amit Rai (35) was also shot dead by a gang of four assailants near his house in Shiv Ganga apartment in Sonari. Amit’s murder was also conspired by Akhilesh as the murder victim was a former member of the gangster and was disclosing his secrets before the police.
So far three persons have already been arrested in the case. The police have attached properties of five accused, including that of Akhilesh Singh and likely to attach properties of all those who are involved in the murder and absconding.
