Jamshedpur, May 7: In major breakthrough the police today arrested three youths who were responsible for stabbing and snatching incidents taken place under Govindpur and Sitaramdera areas on April 23.
Those arrested were identified as Asif Ansari alias Bhoma (20), a resident of Islamnagar in Kapali, Mohammed Imran Khan (22)and Mohammed Saheed alias Shooter Bachha (21), both residents of Azadnagar in Mango.
The police have recovered the two cellphones that these criminals had looted and also a dagger that they had used in stabbing the victims during the snatching. The police have also seized a black sports bike that these accused had used in committing the snatching.
A 19-year-old youth, Vicky Sharma who was a resident of Bhilai was stabbed by unknown assailants near Govindpur railway station on April 23 noon, while he was going to the station along with his brother Kamlesh for catching a train for Ghatshila.
In another incident, 45-year-old Vikas Kumar Shah was seriously injured as he was stabbed by two bike-borne criminals who had first snatched his cellphone and later were trying to snatch his money-purse on Agrico-Bhuiyandih Road in Bhuiyandih under Sitaramdera thana the same evening, the 19-year-old youth was killed at Govindpur.
A resident of Mango, Shah worked in a private finance company and was returning home on his bike from his office in Golmuri as the incident took place. Shah who had been stabbed in his abdomen is still undergoing treatment at the Tata Main Hospital.
Both the cases of stabbing and snatching had taken place in lonely place with no eyewitness around, and was a challenge for the police to get it solved.
Revealing about the breakthrough at a press conference, senior superintendent of police, Anoop T Mathew said that the snatching case in Govindpur was a blind case as there was no eyewitness account of the incident.
