Police arrest MLA Nirmala Devi in Barkagaon firing case

Hazaribagh: Police here on Tuesday claimed to have arrested MLA Nirmala Devi who was reported to have gone mysteriously missing by the state police department after the firing incident in Barkagaon on 1st October.
Nirmala Devi was arrested from Shivpuri locality in the evening.

The SP of Hazaribagh Bhimsen Tuti has confirmed the MLA’s arresting.

Police sources said that the whereabouts of the MLA were given to police by two close aids of the legislator. Cops have arrested the MLA in connection with the firing incident in Barkagaon.

Sources said the MLA wanted to surrender in the Hazaribagh Court, but could not do so as a result of heavy police deployment in and around the court premises.

Police first arrested the MLA’s advisor Mantu Soni and her brother Mukesh Kumar. The two led the cops to find out the location of Nirmala Devi.

Soon after her arrest, Nirmala Devi said she faced threat to her life from the state government. She said she could be eliminated, adding that she wanted to surrender but police did not allow her to surrender.

The husband of Nirmala Devi and former state minister Yogendra Sao and his son are already in jail.
