Jamshedpur : The police arrested four persons involved in separate incidents of snatching in the city and also in the Rs 25 lakh burglary at a mobile phone shop at Sakchi taken place on October 28.
Those arrested were identified as Baldev Singh alias Billu (23) and Amandeep Singh (25), both residents of Gurunanak Nagar in Golmuri, and those arrested in the burglary at the Sakchi-based mobile phone shop were identified as Mantosh Chaudhury alias Santosh (35) and Gautam Kumar Chaudhury (23), both residents of East Champaran district in Bihar.
East Singhbhum senior superintendent of police Anoop T Mathew said a special team headed by Kadma officer-in-charge, Animesh Gupta was formed. Acting on a tip of that two bike-borne criminals were moving in suspicious way on Kadma-Sonari Link Road, the special team chased them and ultimately succeeded in nabbing them.
On being interrogated, both the suspects confessed to be active in snatching incidents in Kadma, Sonari and Bistupur localities.
Talking to the newsmen, the senior SP said that the snatchers gang admitted that they have committed as many as 20 incidents of snatching — 15 incidents in Kadma, three in Bistupur and two incidents of snatching in Sonari area.
Speaking about the other breakthrough, the senior SP said the gang which was involved in Rs 25 lakh burglary committed at a leading cell-phone and laptop shops on Penar Road in Sakchi on October 28.
He said the burglars were staying at a Jugsalai-based lodge and had fled the city after committing the burglary at the mobile phone shop.
The senior SP, said the inter-state burglars’ gang which had seven members in the gang had sold out the burgled smart phones and laptops to two persons, Santosh Kumar and Rup Narayan in Motihari district in Bihar.
