Jamshedpur : Police on Wednesday arrested a 28-year-old youth having underworld links, from near his house at Purani Bustee Road in Jugsalai.
A loaded pistol was also seized from his possession.
The arrested youth was identified as Mohammed Fazal alias Vicky, a resident of Hessa Mohalla in Jugsalai. In this connection, the police have registered a case against Fazal under Arms Act on the FIR lodged by Vijay Kumar Singh, posted at the Jugsalai police station.
Officer-in-charge, Jugsalai police station Laxman Paswan said that acting on a tip off a patrolling party nabbed the youth at Hessa Mohalla.
” As the patrolling party got tip they went over to the place, the youth tried to hide, leading the police party to chase him. Ultimately, when the youth was caught, the police on frisking him, the cops recovered a pistol from the waist of the accused,” said Paswan.
The officer-in-charge said that the police party also got a cell-phone from the possession of the accused. “We have scanned the cell-phone numbers and found links of several notorious criminals. On being interrogated, Fazal confessed that he procured the pistol from Mohammed Bholu, presently lodged in Ghaghidih Central Jail on being arrested in a murder case,” said the police officer.
Another criminal with whom he was in regular contact is Mohammed Danish, who is also lodged in the central jail in a murder case. The police said there were over a dozen numbers of criminals saved in that cell phone.
Sources informed that the youth who was arrested with a loaded sophisticated pistol of 7.65 MM has connection with the underworld.
” We are probing the arrested youth. We suspect that the 28-year-old Fazal might be a contract killer and was arrested as soon as he was moving for a destination for committing crime.
We are trying to find out his purpose behind moving with a fire-arms at 1 am,” said the source.
