Jamshedpur: A complaint has been lodged with the Prime Minister’s Office regarding water wastage in Gadhra village. The main water supply pipeline in Beech Tola of Gadhra village had burst 15 months ago. But, there has been no move to repair the lifeline of this locality, wasting thousands of litres of clean drinking water daily.
Taking swift cognizance of the matter, the PMO has issued an official order to Anil Kumar, Joint Secretary, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Government of Jharkhand, Ranchi, to provide swift relief to the people residing in the area.
The issue was escalated to the PMO following complaints from local residents. RTI activist and AJSU Party District Secretary Kritibas Mandal lodged a complaint with the PMO in New Delhi. The apathy of departmental officials, even during the peak summer season and ongoing water crisis, has sparked severe anger among the villagers. Ground realities show that local women are forced to collect this running, contaminated street water in utensils to meet their daily household needs.
The PMO has directed the state authority to:
- Investigate the matter immediately
- Take corrective action to plug the leakage
- Submit a detailed investigation report
The intervention aims to halt the continuous wastage of water and restore regular, hygienic water supply to every household in the area.
