PLFI commander carrying reward of Rs 2 lakh, 7 others nabbed from Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum

Chaibasa, July 21:  In yet another success for the state police and paramilitary forces involved in anti-insurgency operations in Jharkhand a commander of the outlawed  People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) has been nabbed from Bandgaon Police Station area of West Singhbhum district along with his seven other ultras. 

Briefing the press on Wednesday Chaibasa SP Ajay Linda said that a tip-off had been received that PLFI commander Ajay Purty, a native of Khunti but was staying now in Gudri area along with other members of his squad was moving in the forest areas of Iti-Birda located under Bandgaon police station area. Following the information, a team led by ASP Chakradharpur Nathu Singh Meena and jawans comprising of the 60th battalion of CRPF conducted joint raids during which these eight ultras were nabbed. He said that among the arrested included Ajay Purty alias Manoj Purty alias Birsa Hassa Purty, Akila Sandi Purty alias Dibody, Dupan alias Topan Kandulna, Herman Sundi Purty alias Sukhram Sandi Purty, Dosaro Munda, Poulus Sandi Purty, Galu Sandi Purty and Prabhu Sahai Sirum. 

Police recovered from the arrested ultras, two country made revolvers, 8 live cartridges, a wireless set with charger, 5 mobile phones, 6 sim cards, 2 motorcycles, 6 bag packs and items of daily use were recovered from them. The SP said that the state government had declared a reward of Rs 2 lakh against arrested commander Ajay Purty. He said that a total of 50 cases are registered against him in connection with murder, attempt to murder, extortion, arsoning, attacking police party and executing other incidents. Out of these 50 cases 43 cases are registered in different police station areas of West singhbhum district while another 7 have been registered across separate police stations of Khunti district.
