Jamshedpur, May 12: Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Tuesday reiterated�government�s commitment to construct 3 lakh toilets in state by the end of this year. He also promised piped drinking water in every village in next five years. �
Das inaugurated a drinking water project in Chotta Gamharia in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district around 20 km from Steel City. The project will benefit 11, 500 populace of seven villages (Chotta Gamharia, Musrikudar, Murgaguttu, Mohanpur, Reghadih, Bardih and Saldih).
Das also laid the foundation stone of Seraikela urban water project and ten single village water distribution projects under the Neer Nirmal project.
Present on the occasion was Jharkhand water resources and sanitation minister Chandra Prakash Choudhury. Addressing the gathering, Das said that in the next five years the government is working towards making the state achieve good results in education, roads, drinking water.
The Chief Minister appealed all to construct toilets, while the government would set up it for the poor who can’t afford to build the facility on their own.�
The government has plans to supply potable water to each town and village in the next five years, he said while appreciating the Chota Gamharia Panchayat for becoming the first panchayat in the state to attain ODF status as a part of the Centre’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.�
The water supply project in a primarily urban area with a water tower of capacity 3.35 lakh litre and built at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore by the state drinking water and sanitation department and intake well near� S S High School drawing water from Kharkhai river will have pipeline laid in�2,9,050 meters.
State water resource and drinking water and sanitation minister, Chandra Prakash Choudhary said that their department has set a target of providing drinking water to each household in all the districts of the state.
�We have set a target of providing piped water supply to�90 percent of the state populace by 2022.
In addition to providing quality water to each household we also plan to achieve�100 percent panchayat ODF by 2022,� said Choudhary.

Das assured that recruitment of school teachers would be done in the next three months and improvement of infrastructure of all schools in the state in a year’s time.�
