Hemant and Kalpana Soren lead whirlwind campaign on final day of Ghatshila by-election

Ghatshila: The final day of campaigning for the high-stakes Ghatshila assembly by-election turned into a massive show of strength for the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), as Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife, Kalpana Soren, launched an intensive, whirlwind campaign across the constituency on Sunday. The CM, accompanied by JMM candidate Somesh Soren, started his roadshow from Surda and went to Ghatsila town with people lining up on both sides of the roads to greet him.

With the fate of candidates to be sealed in the ballot boxes on November 11, the JMM leadership pulled out all stops to reach every section of voters, making an emotional and strategic appeal for the victory of party candidate Somesh Soren.

Hemant Soren concentrated his efforts in the urban areas of Ghatshila, addressing a series of public meetings, corner gatherings, and roadshows. He passionately urged the electorate to support the JMM for the continuation of what he termed as the “era of inclusive development” ushered in by his government. Speaking to cheering crowds, Soren emphasized that his government has worked to bring dignity and welfare to tribal communities, farmers, laborers, and the underprivileged sections of society.

“Our government has been dedicated to the welfare of Jharkhand’s people. From providing jobs and pensions to empowering women and protecting forest rights, every step has been taken with the people’s interest in mind,” Soren said. He accused the opposition of trying to divide the people and mislead them through hollow promises. “The people of Ghatshila understand who stood with them in difficult times. The opposition only wakes up during elections; we have been working every single day,” he remarked amid thunderous applause.

Throughout the day, the atmosphere in Ghatshila remained highly charged, with traditional tribal drumming, folk performances, and chants of “JMM Zindabad” echoing through the streets. Party flags fluttered along the roads, and supporters moved in large processions as the Soren couple’s convoy passed through various areas. The campaign witnessed extensive participation from senior party functionaries, local leaders, and thousands of enthusiastic workers, who viewed the rally as a symbol of solidarity and strength ahead of polling day.

Hemant Soren, during his concluding address, reiterated his appeal for unity and faith in the JMM. “Our government is not built on slogans but on action. We have protected land rights, increased employment opportunities, and expanded welfare schemes even in the face of challenges. We trust the people of Ghatshila to make the right choice and continue this journey of progress,” he said.

Stand with Somesh Soren to strengthen Hemant Soren’s leadership, Says Kalpana Soren

Ghatshila: JMM star campaigner Kalpana Soren held her roadshow from Jadugora to Musabani. She appealed to the people to vote for the JMM candidate.

Kalpana Soren’s address resonated strongly among the rural electorate. “This election is not merely about a seat—it is about Jharkhand’s pride, progress, and self-respect,” she said. “The people of Ghatshila have a glorious history of struggle and sacrifice. I appeal to you all to stand with Somesh Soren and strengthen Hemant Soren’s leadership, which is committed to the welfare of every household.” She also assured that the government would continue to focus on improving rural livelihoods, employment opportunities, and access to essential services.

While the Chief Minister covered the urban stretches, Kalpana Soren carried the campaign’s momentum deep into the rural belts of Musaboni and Jadugora. Her presence drew enthusiastic crowds, particularly of women, youth, and self-help group members. In her roadshows and local meetings, she spoke about the social welfare schemes and grassroots initiatives implemented under the current government, including programs focused on women’s economic empowerment, education, and healthcare.
