PDS dealers protest door-to-door foodgrain supply scheme

Jadugora: Several ration dealers of Gwalkanta village in Jadugora have started opposing the door-to-door foodgrain supply scheme meant for the Sabar community.

They have asked the local district administration authorities concerned not to implement the scheme in Gwalkanta panchayat.

A delegation comprising the ration dealers led by the Mukhiya Sitaram Hansda met the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar and handed over a memorandum to him in this regard.

The dealers said the administration should allow the ration dealers of the village to supply foodgrains to the Sabars instead.

They said the villagers had been taking foodgrains from the PDS shops for the last 30 years without any problem.

They threatened to wage a wider agitation at the block office in case the scheme was forcibly implemented in their panchayat
