Jamshedpur, Aug 28: The legislative representative of the Chief Minister, Pawan Agrawal has, in a letter urged the district administration as well as local industries to ensure street lights along the road between JEMCO and Govindpur Anna Chowk as this constitutes the main thoroughfare for a large section of people residing in Jojobera, Krishna Nagar, Govindpur, Rahargora and Barinagar.
A few street lights were provided along the route last year but these too are not functioning. Agrawal stated in the letter that companies like Tata Motors, Tata Power, Lafarge, Steel Wheels and Hitachi, all big names in the private sector were not discharging their social responsibilities. As a result the road is engulfed in darkness after sunset. People, especially women feel uneasy to move along the road after nightfall. Incidences of snatching have been occurring on this road because of the darkness factor. A recent incident was that of a trailer driver Siyaram Sarkar being roughed up and robbed by antisocial elements on this section of the road at night. Pawan has urged that street lights be provided on the JEMCO Anna Chowk road for convenience of the wayfarers.
