Jamshedpur, Jan. 31: A car was gutted as fire broke up inside the vehicle, which was parked on Tiljuga Road behind ADL Sunshine School in the area under the jurisdiction of the Sakchi police station on Sunday.
The car belonged to one Mohammed Shakeel, a resident of Golmuri, and he had parked the vehicle on the roadside to run a tea-stall.
According to information, some truck operators who were plying through the adjoining Sakchi-Bistupur Road were first to notice the burning car and they informed the Sakchi police about the incident.
Following this, the police informed the government fire station in Golmuri and the Tata Steel fire brigade. The fire was brought under control within an hour after two fire-tenders from two different fire stations were pressed into service.
The Sakchi police have registered a case in this connection based on the FIR lodged by Saqueel later in the day. In the FIR, the informant Shakeel has claimed that his car, which was in running condition had been set on fire by some unknown miscreants.
Sakchi police station officer-in-charge Anjani Kumar Tiwary confirmed the incident, but could not ascertain the reason behind such incident.
The officer-in-charge said that they were probing the reason behind the fire from every angle, adding that they also do not rule out the chances of miscreants setting the vehicle on fire.
