Parent-teacher meeting at Xavier School Gamharia

Gamharia, July 18:  A parents-teachers meeting was organized on Monday at Xavier School in Gamharia for students of classes 8 and 9. Such meetings are organized at regular intervals where parents can meet teachers and learn about the progress of their wards.

Xavier School Principal, Fr (Dr) Tony Raj, SJ, spoke on several issues in terms of parents-children relationship in modern times as many parents were usually taken up with jobs that left them with spares time to interact with their children, who, as a result started feeling lonely and hence turned their attention to their mobile phones and TV sets. Fr Tony Raj said, “The paucity of time for paying attention to their children thwarts, in a way, the children’s allround development,” and referring to the parents, observed, “All of you should take some time out of your busy schedule for your children that will help in their allround development.”

Xavier School Principal, Fr (Dr) Tony Raj, SJ, advised the children to concentrate on their studies instead of whiling away their precious time on their cell phone. “Maintain your distance from your cell phone, at least while studying on which, you should concentrate. Start preparing for your board from now so that all of you can score good marks and enhance the joy of your own selves, your parents and teachers and together illuminate the name of your school.

Fr Raj urged parents and teachers to guide students in the subjects of the children’s choice instead of pushing for other subjects that could prove as stumbling blocks. The parents apprised the Principal of the hitches being encountered by their children in their studies. However, the parents resolved to work in tandem with their wards for their allround development.

The students then presented cultural programmes that captivated all present who included Assistant Principal, Father Dayanidhi, Sister Rashmi, Sister Archana, Prabhat Mishra, Ujjwal Mukherjee, Suchitra Bharti and other teachers along with parents of the students.
