Jamshedpur : Para-teachers have launched agitation demanding priority based on their in the merit list for primary teachers and para-teachers to be prepared by state later this month.
According to information, the merit list will be prepared by state HRD for the para-teachers candidates selected in the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council held in 2013.
Officials of the Jharkhand Rajya Para Sikshak Samanvaya Samity as said that as per the process state government while preparing merit list a candidate who has fetched high marks will get posting in more than one district which will result in several seats remaining vacant in the districts after completion of the appointment process.
The government should give priority to home districts of the selected candidates and only if there still remains vacancies then para-teachers of other districts be appointed in those vacancies.
There are over 3,200 para-teachers in East Singhbhum district out of which 304 have successfully cleared the TET last year for appointment as primary teachers in state-owned schools. The total post of para-teachers in the district is 401. There more than 800 primary teachers post vacant in the district.
The large number of absence of teachers are hampering studies in government schools across the district. The para teachers who are contractual teachers in government schools have been demanding their regularisation of jobs and salary increase since last many years.
