JDU Leader Gets Death Threat in Jamshedpur, Accused Arrested

Jamshedpur: A youth allegedly threatened to shoot Janata Dal (United) leader Pappu Singh in the Bistupur police station area late on Tuesday night. The incident took place near Ram Mandir and triggered panic among locals and party workers.

According to reports, Pappu Singh, State Youth General Secretary of JDU, was standing near a bar with his associates when Monu Chaudhary arrived at the spot. Allegedly under the influence of alcohol, he began abusing those present. When confronted, he got into a heated argument with Singh and allegedly issued death threats, warning that he would shoot him.

Eyewitnesses described the accused’s behaviour as aggressive, which quickly escalated the situation. As tensions rose, JDU leader Neeraj Singh and other party workers rushed to the scene. With the help of locals, they overpowered and detained the accused before informing the police.

Bistupur police responded promptly, reached the spot, and took Monu Chaudhary into custody. Officers brought him to the police station for further questioning. Police sources said the accused has a criminal background and is linked to a known criminal.

After the incident, a large number of JDU workers gathered at the police station and demanded strict action. JDU leader Neeraj Singh expressed concern and questioned the police response, alleging a lack of urgency in handling the matter.

Police officials said they have launched an investigation and assured that they will take appropriate legal action based on evidence.
