Panchayat members demand honorarium dues, meet DC

Jamshedpur, Dec 14: A delegation of Jamshedpur block panchayat committee members handed over a 10-point memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum on Wednesday demanding disbursement of their honorarium dues pending for the last several months among other demands.

The panchayat committee members also demanded that the signatures of all panchayat committee members should be made compulsory in the final settlement of funds for development works. “Regular meetings of Panchayat committee members should be held every month and the presence of officials of every government department should be ensured. An auditorium for panchayat committee members should be constructed and the photocopies of the action taken by them should be entered in the register and made available to all panchayat committee members, sources said.

The panchayat committee member Somvari Patro said if the district administration fails to take action on the demands raised by the committee members, all members would take to the streets to call for agitation.
