Panchayat by-election today, administration on toes

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Tuesday said the election duty staff for tomorrow�s panchayat by-elections had been sent to their respective clusters and booths. By-elections would be held across 152 polling booths in six blocks from 7 am till 3 pm for the post of one Mukhiya, two Panchayat committee members and one Zila Parishad member for Mosabani six wards.
The DC appealed to media-persons to spread greater awareness among voters to exercise their right to elect their choice candidate.
Sources said few polling duty staff have been kept in reserve for emergency situations. There are 62 polling clusters in the district. Adequate number of police personnel and magistrates have been deputed at various strategic places, they said. There are a total of 53,152 voters including 26,332 women voters for the by-election.
