Jamshedpur: All Panchayat buildings in the district of East Singhbhum would get Internet connectivity.
Director of Panchayati Raj department Shibendu Singh said the department has chalked out an ambitious plan to provide Internet connectivity, and computers to all Panchatyat buildings in the district within next two years.
It would be ensured that the panchyat buildings receive uninterrupted power, he said. Singh was talking to the media persons at local Circuit House during his visit in the city.
Shibendu Singh said that steps are being taken to carry out �National Optical Fiber Networking�. Power Grid Corporation of India has been given the task of laying optical fiber network to speed up Internet networking.
He said that funds were released for purchase of computers to be installed at Panchayat buildings. The department has also taken the decision to open �Pragya Kendra� in each panchayat with video conference facility, he said.
Singh, went on to add that the State Government had sent proposal of 185 Crores under Rajib Gandhi Panchayat Shashakti Karan Abhiyan, but received only 47 Crores which is quite insufficient.
Similarly proposal of 450 Crores had been sent of which 427 Crores have been sanctioned while 261 Crores have been received for the campaign.
He further said that the department had taken serious note of the fact that 17 panchayat sevak did not attend data upload training.
Answering a query Singh said that the government would take the decision on party-based panchayat election. However, notification for election of ward members has been issued on January 3, he said.
