New Delhi (IANS): President Droupadi Murmu will present the 2026 Padma Awards at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan on June 23. The 65 awardees include former Union Minister Shibu Soren, tennis legend Vijay Amritraj, megastar Mammootty, and playback singer Alka Yagnik.
The 5:00 PM ceremony will draw high-profile attendees, including Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other Union Ministers and dignitaries.
The Award Breakdown
During this second ceremony, President Murmu will bestow 65 honors:
- Padma Vibhushan: 2
- Padma Bhushan: 7
- Padma Shri: 56
This follows the first Civil Investiture Ceremony on May 25, where the President conferred 65 awards, including two Padma Vibhushan, six Padma Bhushan, and 57 Padma Shri awards.
Prominent Winners and Global Representation
The upcoming ceremony features several high-profile recipients:
- Padma Vibhushan: P. Narayanan (Literature & Education) and Justice (retd.) K.T. Thomas (Public Affairs).
- Padma Bhushan: JMM founder Shibu Soren (posthumous), alongside Vijay Amritraj, S.K.M. Maeilanandhan, Mammootty, Vellappally Natesan, Dattatreyudu Nori, and Alka Yagnik.


The list also carries international flavor, honoring four foreign nationals:
- Dr. Dattatreyudu Nori (USA): Padma Bhushan for Medicine.
- Prof. Prateek Sharma (USA): Padma Shri for Medicine.
- Liudmila Khokhlova (Russia): Padma Shri for Literature and Education.
- Vladimer Mestvirishvili (Georgia): Posthumous Padma Shri for Sports.
Additionally, West Bengal’s Professor Mahendra Nath Roy will receive the Padma Shri for his contributions to Science and Engineering.
