Overwhelming response to ‘Run for Unity’ in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur , Oct. 31: As tribute to the ‘Iron Man of India’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,thousands participated in the ‘Run for Unity’. The hour-long run was flagged off by Jamshedpur MP BidyutBaranMahto at Baridih. East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar, East Singhbhum SSP Anoop Birtharay and host of other dignitaries saw the participants running. The run started from the Baridihand finished at the Tinplate Chowk.

Students from class eight and above of over 13 private and state-owned schools participated in the run.The participants ran through main thoroughfares before the conclusion of the run.

Organisations like Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce, Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce, Hindustan MaitriSangh, Defodils School, Rose Bird School, Shiksha Niketan, Tinplate Khalsa Middle School, Surat Gujarati School, social institutions in Shayam Mitra Mandal, Shyam Bhakta Mandal, Bangbhashi Samaj, Chhattisgarh Welfare Committee , Gujarati Samaj , Jain Society , Bal Mandir , Dusad Society, SahuSamaj , and Sindhi society took part in it.

On this occasion, Jamshedpur MP said that Sardar Patel’s fierceness towards his country, his integrity towards unity and integrity and the foresight of his personality helped nation to remain united.

Deputy Commissioner Kumar said that the world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will be unveiled today by the Prime Minister.

The participants also took a pledge for unity and swachhta (sanitation) before starting the race.The students and teachers present on the occasion also took pledge to serve country.

“We are really excited to see. It was the largest gathering in the city as far as run is concerned. We had made security and safety arrangements for the run. The run was successful due to the participation of all section of society,” said an official.

On this occasion, Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, all the officers of the district, a large number of schoolchildren, public representatives, social organizations, police force personnel, NCC participated in the run.
