Over 57 solar power installations completed in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Over 57 solar power projects have been installed in households across Jamshedpur district as part of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana. According to a review conducted during the District-Level Coordination Committee meeting, 16 installations have been completed out of 90 applications in the Jamshedpur Notified Area, 24 out of 91 in Mango Municipal Corporation, 16 out of 180 in the JUSCO area, and 1 out of 13 in Ghatsila.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner  Aniket Sachan, was held under the direction of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal at the Collectorate Auditorium. Officials from the Electricity Department, implementing agencies, and contractors discussed strategies to expedite solar power installations and electrification efforts.

Authorities stressed the need to increase participation in the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana by raising awareness and simplifying the application process. The meeting concluded that the initial phase of implementation should focus on urban areas, with efforts to encourage more residents to adopt solar power solutions.

Apart from solar power installations, discussions also covered key developments under the Restructured Distribution Area Scheme (RDSS) to enhance power supply quality and reliability. Officials were directed to accelerate the replacement of aging electricity poles and wires while ensuring smooth coordination with the Forest and other departments for timely approvals. Measures to separate agricultural feeders and reduce transmission losses were also reviewed.

The Chief Minister Ujjwal Jharkhand Yojana is playing a crucial role in extending power infrastructure to underserved rural areas. Work has already begun to install electricity poles and wiring in 191 identified Tolas across the district. Additionally, officials have been instructed to conduct fresh surveys to ensure no settlement remains without electricity and to submit a revised proposal to the state government.

Deputy Development Commissioner  Aniket Sachan urged all departments to accelerate implementation and ensure the completion of pending applications. The meeting was attended by the Lead Bank Manager, Executive Engineers of Jamshedpur, Mango, and Ghatsila electricity divisions, SDO Electricity, and representatives of the empaneled agency of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana.

With continued efforts, the district administration aims to achieve full electrification while promoting sustainable and renewable energy solutions across Jamshedpur and its adjoining regions.
