Jamshedpur, Oct. 8: More than 100 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out in Musaboni Vegetable Market under Musaboni police station area of sub-division. Police said properties worth lakhs of rupees were lost in the devastating fire at the heart of this town.
As the news spread, the locals rushed to the spot and worked hard along with the troops of UCIL, HCIL and 193 Battalion to overcome the flames. The water tankers were used to extinguish the fire.
People while going to morning walk suddenly noticed the fire flames in the market. By the time people arrived, the flames had engulfed the market.
“The site was horrifying as the flames flashed across the sky. Though as the news spread they swung into action and started dousing the fire by resorting to the pouring water in the shops. But the intensity of the fire was so high that before they could understand anything, the fire continued to engulf the entire showroom,” said, an eye witness.
A police official said that panic prevailed across the area as the police arrived. It took about three hours to the fire-brigades fought for dousing the flame completely. No causality was reported as the incident took place.
