Saraikela, Dec 8: BJP district president Vijay Mahto and erstwhile president Uday Singhdev in a joint media conference stated that the Bandh Call given by the grand alliance partners turned out to be a damp squib as farmers and the general people rejected their call seeing through the mischief in the opposition parties’ ploy.
They said that the new Farm Bills had been envisaged for the farmers who will stand to reap optimum benefits. They accused the state governmet of depriving the farmers from selling their paddy harvests as purchase centres had not yet been opened by it. They said, “The Jharkhand government is anti-farmer. Instead of farmers propagating the bandh call, only leaders of opposition parties were seen on the streets futilely trying to make the programme a success. The parody is, the people out on the streets have no relevance to the Farm Bills in any way. Instead they took up the cudgels to stage this bandh only because they saw the ebbing away of their chances of making a quick buck out of the farmers’ miseries.”
Mahto and Singhdev said that Prime Minister Modi had assured that no more farmers would be pushed to committing suicide and these bills were a first step to realization of the assurance.
