Ranchi: The BJP-AJSU coalition government did not have to prove majority in the house as it gained the magical 42 seats.

Neither the Governor asked the CM to prove the majority in the assembly. It now appears that a confident BJP-AJSU bench dwarfed the entire opposition at the very beginning of the session.

It was proved as the opposition failed to make any headway in the cut motion placed in the house after the supplementary budget. While the ruling party got 40 votes, the opposition managed to garner only 37 votes. The opposition was in tatters during the first show of strength in the assembly.

It was said that the opposition was not ready for show of strength on voting on cut motion of budget proposals. The congress did not issue any whip directing its members to be present in the house during voting on cut motion.

It is being said that the Congress could not pass any whip because of the fact that the party is yet to elect its leader of the legislators group. It could not ensure presence of all of its legislators during the passing of the Finance Bill.

On the other hand JMM and JVM had issued guidelines on the issue well in advance. Except Congress, the entire opposition members ensured their presence during the voting. JMM leader of the opposition Hemant Soren is reportedly unhappy over the absence of two Congress legislators in the house.

If the two absent Congress leaders were present in house then the opposition could secure 39 votes. It could send across message to the people that the opposition is in full unity and can upset the ruling coalition.
