Jadugora: Hundreds of villagers of Potka put up an agitation on the Hata-Mosabani main road on Friday to protest the accidental death of a 48 year-old man, identified as Ratan Bhakta. They demanded compensation for the next of kin of the deceased and arresting of the errant driver.
Sources said the incident occurred late yesterday midnight when a speeding vehicle knocked down and ran over the victim. Bhakta died at the scene after sustaining critical injuries, sources said.
In this connection, police registered an FIR against an unidentified person and sent the body of the deceased to the MGM Medical College for postmortem examination.
The circle officer of Potka Dwarika Baitha announced to pay Rs 20,000 to the aggrieved family members of the deceased under the accidental family benefit scheme of the state government.
