One arrested in cash loot from potato trader

Jamshedpur, July 12: Police arrested one person in connection with the loot of cash from a potato trader in Dumaria police station area on Friday.

Police said the accused, identified as Rohit Sardar, was arrested from his house in Nayagram under Dumaria police station area. Cops recovered Rs 19,200 from his possession. Rohit had allegedly looted the cash from the potato trader, Manik Chandra Das, between Dumrashol and Jambani near Jahira on Thursday last. Das was returning home from Bhagabandi market in an auto-rickshaw. Near Jambani, he stopped to answer nature�s call when the accused intercepted him and threatened him to part with the cash at gunpoint. The accused also flaunted a knife to rob Das, cops said.

Later, a police team was set up to arrest the culprit. Dumaria PS OC Yogendra Paswan and ASI Doodhnath Ram raided Rohits� house in Nayagram and arrested him. Cops also recovered a knife and one scooter used in the crime. The loot victim had identified the culprit, police said.
