Jamshedpur: An awareness programme against dengue and chikungunya was launched in several bustis of the city on Sunday following the instructions of the district administration.
Street-corner plays (Nukkad Natak) were held to give message to the people against the deadly diseases. The deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar had directed the health department officials to carry out an awareness programme to apprise people residing in vulnerable areas of the dangers of vector-borne diseases.
He said organizing street-corner plays was an effective tool to send the health message to so many households affected every now and then by epidemic diseases.
A large number of people had gathered at Chandi Nagar, Chhaya Nagar and Bhuiyadih to watch the street-corner play. The actors who participated in the plays included Chhavi Das, Mohammad Nizam, Neetu Kumari, Bablu Ram, Soukh Patro, Akansha Gupta, Kumud Das, Khurshid Alam
