Jamshedpur: NTTF campus buzzed with activities of students and teachers on Thursday as it re-opened after a week. The institute was closed down in the wake of a controversy arising due to the entry of certain political leaders into the campus.
Security was tightened on the campus with the view to prevent any untoward incident or violence in view of the recent controversy arising on the issue of allowing an ailing student to take the semester exam. The involvement of few political leaders had aggravated the situation.
The NTTF management decided to re-open the technical training institute during a meeting with parents and students held yesterday. NTTF was closed down for an indefinite period by the institute management authorities concerned a week back following a ruckus on the campus. The ruckus was caused by the alleged hooliganism shown by the local Bharatiya Janata Party leaders including district BJP president Rajkumar Srivastava.
The principal of NTTF KV Nayar said the decision to re-open the institute was taken in the meeting with parents convened by him in view of the demand for re-opening the institute. Parents and students of the institute had demanded that the classes and normal functioning of NTTF should resume without any further delay in the larger interest of students.
The BJP leaders had allegedly tried to put pressure on the management for allowing an ailing student to take her semester examination. The NTTF authorities had refused to allow the student due to her low attendance rate, the BJP leaders had said.
Several senior BJP leaders including the MLA of Jamshedpur East Raghuvar Das and former MLA of Jamshedpur West Saryu Roy had requested the NTTF authorities to revoke the closure decision and re-open the institute in the larger interest of the students.
