Jamshedpur, Nov 12: As the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections approaches on November 13, the Factory Inspector of Jamshedpur, Dhirendra Singh Munda, has issued an important directive to the owners and occupiers of 139 companies in the region. The letter mandates that all company owners must grant paid leave to their employees on election day, ensuring that they have the opportunity to vote.

The order emphasizes that employees must be allowed to take the day off to exercise their right to vote. To enforce this, an affidavit from each company owner has been requested, confirming compliance with the directive. The notice also warns that any company found violating the order by allowing employees to work on election day will face legal action under the Factory Act.

Many companies have already taken the necessary steps in this regard. Notable businesses including Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Jojobera Power Plant, Tata Bluescope, Tata Pigment, and others have already announced a holiday for their employees on November 13, to align with the government’s initiative to ensure full voter participation.

Additionally, Shankar Prasad, President of the Ranchi Wholesale Clothing Sellers Employees Union, submitted a memorandum to the Jharkhand Chief Election Commission, urging that private establishments, malls, and factories also close for business on Election Day. The union emphasized the importance of allowing workers time to vote, ensuring democratic participation across all sectors.
