Pune (IANS): Pune police on Sunday morning took the Ketan Agarwal murder case prime accused and the victim’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, to Lohagad Fort to reconstruct the fatal sequence of events.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) (Lonavala division) Gajanan Tompe confirmed the development. “Today, we recreated the crime scene at the Lohagad Fort based on Siya’s description. The Superintendent of Police (SP) and other senior officials also joined the reenactment,” Tompe told IANS. “Siya remains an accused in this case, and we are steering the investigation accordingly.”
Investigators used a fiber-made dummy to simulate the fatal fall. Officials noted that during this reconstruction, Siya cracked and detailed the entire murder plot.
The Shoelace Distraction: How the Plot Unfolded
According to a senior police officer, Siya admitted during questioning and the crime scene reenactment that she and her associate, Chetan, explicitly planned to eliminate Ketan.
The investigation revealed a highly synchronized execution:
-
The Distraction: Siya led Ketan to a higher vantage point on the fort and pretended to bend down to tie her shoelaces.
-
The Ambush: The moment Siya created the distraction, Chetan blindsided Ketan from behind.
-
The Push: Police sources state the reconstruction proved Chetan violently pushed Ketan, causing him to lose his balance and plunge approximately 300 feet into a deep gorge. Ketan died on the spot.
The police video-recorded Siya’s full confession and the entire reenactment to secure ironclad evidence for the trial.
Google Searches and Rehearsals: A Pre-Meditated Murder
The ongoing probe has unearthed a chilling level of preparation by the duo before they executed the crime:
-
Digital Footprint: Investigators found that both Siya and Chetan extensively searched Google for various methods to kill Ketan.
-
The Dress Rehearsal: Reports reveal the duo visited Lohagad Fort alone prior to the incident to physically rehearse the murder. They also drafted and practiced synchronized alibis to mislead investigators if caught.
-
Disguises: The two accused planned to wear disguises during the crime to evade local suspicion and eyewitness identification.
Furthermore, officials discovered that Siya and Chetan systematically wiped their entire phone chat histories and emptied their recycle bins both before and after the murder. The police have dispatched their mobile phones to a forensic laboratory to retrieve the deleted data logs.
