Nor’wester rain brings respite from heat in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 11: Following IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre alert, Nor’wester  led to rainfall in the city. An official said excessive heating of land coupled with moisture incursion into atmosphere triggered Nor’wester activity. He went on to say that a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level would  help in the norwester activity.

” Following change in the climate we have issued an alert of thunderstorm , lightning and rain due to the impact of Nor’wester in western and central  parts of Jharkhand on Friday ( March 12) and Saturday ( March 13). Partly cloudy sky is expected to prevail for the next three to four days, ”  he said . The Met office forecast indicated clear sky from Sunday, March 14.

Met statistics revealed that the maximum reading has already  touched 38 degree Celsius in Jamshedpur, Daltonganj and some pockets of north western Jharkhand.

Giant tree fell on the road in Jamshedpur’s Telco area on Thursday evening.

Another met official of the city said that maximum temperatures would fall by 2-3 deg Celsius during the next three days. However the cloudy weather would not affect the heat in the city. “The moisture content in the air is very high. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be above 36 degree Celsius. giant tree fell on an auto-rickshaw in the city’s Ratu area on Tuesday

People, in large numbers, ventured outdoors enjoying the breezy weather while some youngsters preferred to get drenched in the drizzle. Showers were seen in areas of Jamshedpur, Chaibasa, Chakulia and lasted more than an hour.

According to the meteorological department, chances are that these localised thunderstorms will greet the city tomorrow once again. But it would not result in heavy rain nor will it have much effect on the temperature.

Tree falls on car parked in Telco

Several trees fell in many areas in the city following hailstorm on Thursday evening. A tree fell in a car parked near the Telco Anna Chowk. A woman and the driver of the car narrowly escaped the incident. Somehow the woman and the driver were ejected from the car after the incident. The car driver’s name is Munna. The rear of the car was completely damaged. After getting the information, the police also reached the spot and started trying to remove the tree that fell on the car.
