No entry for vehicles on Bistupur main road after Nov 15: CM


Similar plans for Ranchi from Sujata cinema to Firayalal Chowk

Jamshedpur, Oct. 27: After 15th November this year, steel city denizens will no longer be allowed to ply their vehicles on the Bistupur main road between Bistupur roundabout and Voltas Building from 5 pm to 10 pm every day. The citizens of Ranchi too, will not be allowed to ply vehicles from Sujata Talkies to Firayalal Chowk from 5 pm to 10 pm every day. An order to this effect was passed here on Friday by Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

Speaking to scribes at Circuit House, the CM said he had issued orders to the East Singhbhum and Ranchi district authorities concerned. He said people will have to walk their way through the prescribed stretches of road during the said span on a daily basis.

He said the plan was being implemented on an experimental basis to motivate people to walk and depend less on pollution-causing vehicles. If it becomes successful, the plan would be implemented in the other cities of Jharkhand, said the CM.

Das further said that a sanitation drive will be run across the state on a large scale in which government officials and common people will participate. He said sanitation is everyoneís responsibility and everyone should play his part well. He said media should also help the campaign.

The CM appealed to shopkeepers to install dustbins in front of their shops and use them without fail. He said the bio-degradable waste should be used to make fertilizers. He said that strict action will be taken against people found guilty of open defecation. If toilet is not available, one should take help from the government and get it built at the earliest, he added.

The CM asked public representatives to arrange solar lights in their respective areas and said that conventional bulbs should be replaced by LED bulbs. He said that children of poor families should be identified and educated. He said the pension of building construction workers will be increased to Rs. 1000 from Rs. 750. The children of 6.5 lakh workers should be connected with studies.
