Jamshedpur, April 16: If any ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) in Jamshedpur runs out of money in the night then one should give up hope of receiving any money from the ATM till the next day.

Soon, money will not be deposited in the ATMs situated in the urban areas after 8 p.m. keeping in mind the safety aspect.

Private cash transportation companies will have to withdraw cash from the banks in the first half of the day to deposit it in the ATMs.

The deadline for depositing the money in ATM in urban area has been set at 8 p.m., while in the rural areas the deadline in 3 p.m. and in the Naxal-affected area private cash transportation companies have been given deadline of 3 p.m.

The decision has been taken keeping in mind the cases of robbery which is on the rise against the agencies involved in the work. The same order will be executed everywhere.

According to the new rule, cash van used for depositing money in the ATMs will not be provided more than Rs 5 crore when they move out for the work.

Along with this, the vehicle should be designed in a way that it has CCTV cameras and GPS system. To deal with the attacks from the robbers, two armed guards and a driver should be present at a time.

The staff that will be present in the vehicle will have to provide two guarantors before they are employed to a particular agency. One of the guarantors should be a government employee.

According to the new order not more than Rs 5 crore can be transported in cash van and if in any situation more cash has to be transported then the vehicle should have two independent compartments.

For storage of cash, a compartment different from the passenger compartment should be there in the cash van which should be locked and in the cash compartment only one gate should be there which should open by hands and electronic lock from inside.

A bank official in Jamshedpur said criminals loot the cash van as soft target, as they get huge amount in one go. Through caution these types of incidents can be stopped.

On the other hand, it is being observed that most of the ATMs in and around the city are closed at night. Apart from Sakchi, Bistupur, Mango Chowk, and Station petrol pump only a couple of ATMs in the city are kept open throughout the night. ATMs in Telco, Parsudih, Mango, Azadnagar, Sonari, Kadma, Golmuri Club, Sidhgora Market and other areas remain closed at the night.

Due to security reasons, the ATMs are closed at night. An outsourcing agency is managing the safety at the ATMs and the owners of the agency are providing very less salary to the guards, but make them work 12-14 hours a day.

There are very few guards available for night shifts and this is the main reason why many ATMs are closed at night, informed a bank official.
