NML organises Outreach Programme for students

Jamshedpur, Sept. 29 : An Outreach Programme of the 4th India International Science Festival (IISF-2018) IISF 2018 was organised at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur.

The thematic choice of this exhibition rests on �Technologies, Products & Technological Services�. The contributions of CSIR-NML in the context of Nation building were showcased in this exhibition under the broad headings of �Mining, Minerals & Materials�, �Engineering & Infrastructure�, �Ecology & Environment�. During this programme, CSIR-NML open their lab & facilities to students, public and local media.

The objective of this outreach programme is to disseminate the knowledge in terms of Achievements, Technologies developed, Products & Technological Services of CSIR-NML as a whole to attract Academia, Industries, R&D fraternity and common people of India to know the contributions of CSIR-NML since 68 years of it�s journey towards the development of New & Digital India. and for the latter to get an insight into the work life of researchers.

The exhibition may provide the industries an ample opportunity to know the latest development of CSIR-NML in the field of Science & Technology and also, it will encourage the industries.

Dr. I. Chattoraj, director NML traced the history of CSIR-NML for its 68 years of journey in the form of development of technologies, products and technological services.

Prof. Ranjit Prasad, representative from VIBHA has narrated the role of VigyanBharati in the social development in terms of Gyan, Vigyan, Sankriti and its parampara.

Arun Kumar, director, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Jharkhand has delivered his address on innovation, start-ups and incubation of technologies, products and processes for the development of Indian Society and common man.
After the inaugural session, more than 1000 students from various schools, colleges, technical institutions, and engineering colleges visited expo stall. They expressed their happiness and showed the excitement of scientific and industrial development of CSIR-NML.

The students from seven schools participated in the Science Model Exhibition of Outreach programme, IISF & Expo 2018. A group of four students from each school demonstrated their Exhibit / models during the Expo-2018. The schools were St. XaviersScool, Chaibasa, Shri Krishna Public School, Baldwin Farm Area, RajendraVidyalaya, Carmel Junior College, Little Flower School, and Mount Litera Zee School.

An e-poster presentation on New Material, clean environment and safety will be also organised on the same day under the leadership of Dr. Gopi Kr. Mandal, Principal Scientist, CSIR-NML. More than 10 posters are expected for presentation from students, researchers and scientists.
