NML Jamshedpur commemorates National Technology Day 2024

Jamshedpur: CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) celebrated National Technology Day 2024 with great fervor, honoring the successful nuclear test at Pokhran in 1998 and acknowledging significant achievements in science and technology. The event featured an invited lecture by Dr. Debashish Bhattacharjee, VP Technology & R&D, Tata Steel Ltd, who delivered a thought-provoking address on igniting young minds to innovate, under the theme “From Schools to Start-ups.”

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML, who underscored the pivotal role of science and technology in national development and reiterated the importance of commemorating National Technology Day. Dr. SK Pal, Chief Scientist & Head-RPBD Division, CSIR-NML, presented insights into ongoing technology development programs and highlighted the laboratory’s contributions towards societal benefits.

Dr. Debashish Bhattacharjee, as the Chief Guest, captivated the audience with his lecture on innovation-powered strategies for sustainable development. He emphasized the journey from idea inception to enterprise establishment and its paramount role in national progress. Drawing from past business models and sustainable ventures, Dr. Bhattacharjee shed light on the entrepreneurial approach of Idea-Innovation-Enterprise, inspiring the audience with examples from various industry sectors.

The occasion also saw the release of the Annual Report for the financial year 2023-24 by Dr. Bhattacharjee, adding to the significance of the event. Abhijit Nanoti, MD, ISWP, Jamshedpur, graced the occasion as a distinguished guest, further enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 120 students and faculty members representing various colleges and universities, including Jamshedpur Women’s College, Srinath University, Arka Jain University, Al-Kabir Polytechnic, and Aditya Institute of Technology.

Aditya Mainak, Administrative Officer, CSIR-NML, extended a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers for their contributions. The program concluded on a patriotic note with the rendition of the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and pride in technological advancements.
