NML Jamshedpur celebrates 72nd Foundation Day, employees honoured

Jamshedpur, Nov 26: The 72nd Foundation Day of CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur was celebrated virtually on Friday, November 26. The auspicious occasion started with the lighting of the lamp followed by the constitutional day pledge. Dr. Indranil Chattoraj, Director CSIR-NML briefed about the CSIR-NML activities.

Prof. E.S. Dwarakadasa, CEO & MD, Karnataka Hybrid Micro Devices Ltd. was present as the chief guest for the function.

Prof. E.S. Dwarakadasa is former professor at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, presented annual awards of the Laboratory. 

V.A. Altekar award for the best technology transferred or commercialized  during the year 2020, B.R. Nijhawan award for the best paper published by CSIR-NML during the year 2020, Prof. Shilowbhadra Banerjee award for the best in-house project completed during the year 2020, Prof. S.P. Mehrotra award for the best colloquium speaker during the year 2020, Prof. P. Ramachandra Rao award for the best employee in Technical Category during the year 2020, Prof. P. Ramachandra Rao award for the best employee in Non-Technical Category during the year 2020, and several meritorious awards to the NML staff children in various categories.

Chief guest Prof. E.S. Dwarakadasa delivered talk on “The Beginning of Metals and the Growth of Civilization”. He reiterated the importance of metals, materials and their evolution. He talked about the rich heritage of Indian metallurgy and materials research of ancient civilization. He mentioned the early age technologies of steel making and metal extraction techniques of human civilizations and the journey of metals and materials research. Dr. Arvind Sinha, Chief Scientist and Advisor Management, CSIR-NML proposed the vote of thanks.
