Chaibasa: JMM-supported candidate Nitin Prakash has been declared the new Chairperson of the Chaibasa Municipal Council, defeating BJP-backed Ramesh Khirwal by 504 votes.
The results were finalized at 7:00 pm at Women’s College, Chaibasa, following a high-security counting process.
The Top Contenders
- Nitin Prakash (JMM): 6,978 votes (Winner)
- Ramesh Khirwal (BJP): 6,474 votes
- Faiyaz Khan: 4,393 votes
- Sunil Prasad Sao: 1,845 votes

The Aftermath
Following the announcement, JMM supporters gathered at Post Office Chowk to celebrate with fireworks. While the runner-up, Ramesh Khirwal, acknowledged a lack of full public support, Prakash pledged a dedicated five-year term focused on the city’s development.
