Jamshedpur: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur kicked off the International Conference on AI Engineering and Innovation (AIEI 2026) this Thursday. The Department of Electrical Engineering organized the three-day event at the TSG Hall, drawing eminent researchers, academicians, and industry experts from India and abroad.
A Focus on Innovation and Research
Sunil Kumar, IAS (Director, Dept. of Higher and Technical Education), graced the inaugural session as Chief Guest. He emphasized how Artificial Intelligence transforms technology and urged researchers to drive national development through innovation.
NIT Jamshedpur Director, Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Sutradhar, reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to global research collaboration during his address. Additionally, Dr. Madhu Singh, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, highlighted how interdisciplinary AI research addresses real-world challenges.

A specialized panel titled “Engineering for Trust” explored the development of ethical and secure AI systems. Panelists Sudipto Jena, Satya Priya Das, and Narayan Basak joined moderator Subhamoy Chakraborti to discuss the necessity of reliable AI frameworks.
