NIT Cultfest 2016 ends with rocking show by �Underground Authority�

Jamshedpur, Feb. 14: NIT, Jamshedpur, concluded the final leg of its annual cultural festival Culfest 2016 with over 45 events and prize money worth about Rs 7 lakh. This fest has indeed started a new era in the history of this hallowed institute.

A whooping 1500 plus formal registration with around 500 participants from various colleges across the state including Dental College, Hazaribagh; UCET, Karim City College, RVS to name a few, participated at the mega event, attracted the maximum crowd.

After first two days, the event witnessed complete excitement among the participants, and by no means was the third day less thrilling. The concluding day saw the finale of most of the events, while second half particularly focussed on the informal events like blind date, paper dance, face off etc. HallaBol (nukkad) presentation kicked off the day at 8 a.m. The next event was Jashn-e-Indian Quiz followed by Poetry Slam and Al-Sculpt.

The mega event of dramatics Nukkad had about 15 teams participating with the team from NIT Jamshedpur winning the first prize and the team from KIIT Bhubaneswar winning the runners up prize.

The crowd relished themselves to the Bhangra Beats as the night sank in with the brilliant performances of the theme dancing event, which saw eight brilliant performances from various colleges. The night ended with the popular band �Underground Authority� forcing the crowd to dance their hearts out ending the euphoric three-day extravaganza.

The Director of the institute Prof. Rambabu Kodali appreciated the efforts of the organizing team. Dean Student welfare Dr. S. Jha and Professor In-charge, cultural activities, Dr. Ashok Kumar also congratulated the organizing team of students and professors for their efforts in making the fest successful.

Earlier, the first night kicked off with the Distortion event, which was later taken a step ahead by the amazing performance by Padmashree Gopal Prasad Dubey. The night ended with the splendid performance by Ehsaan Qureshi, Vishnu Saxena, Deepak Gupta, Rasik Gupta and Poonam Verma.

The second day had over 25 events mainly of the dramatics and dance genre. The main stage was particularly enthusiastic to see the brilliant performances of the Verve or the THEME Modelling event, which was won by the NIT Jamshedpur official team – Team Invincibles, while Team Evanescence lifted the runners up trophy.

Former Mr. Punjab finalist – Gurmeet Singh Sandhu was the main judge of the event, while Praveen Kumar, IG (STF), Jharkhand, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The crowd later cheered to DJ NYK after the fashion event and grooved to its beats late into the night.
