Ninth International Srinath Hindi Mahotsav inaugurated at Srinath University Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Dec 17: The ninth edition of the International Srinath Hindi Mahotsav was ceremoniously inaugurated at Srinath University, Adityapur, marking a vibrant beginning to the much-awaited literary festival. Ichagarh MLA Savita Mahato graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the Srinath University anthem. Addressing the gathering, Savita Mahato described Hindi as the language of the masses and a unifying force that connects people across regions and cultures of the country. She lauded Srinath University Chancellor Sukhdev Mahato for consistently organizing the Hindi Mahotsav and promoting Hindi language and literature in the region.

Welcoming the guests, Chancellor Sukhdev Mahato said that the success of the festival lies in the collective participation of scholars, students and literary enthusiasts. Guest of Honour Dinesh Ranjan, Deputy Director of JIADA, termed Hindi the carrier of India’s national consciousness and said such festivals inspire the younger generation to stay connected with the language.

Assistant Professor Rachna Rashmi introduced the theme of the Mahotsav and outlined its objectives. The first day featured a “Chintan–Manan” session on the theme “Modern Hindi Literature: Youth and New Perspectives”, with eminent scholars Dr Buddhinath Mishra (Delhi), Dr Renu Yadav and international speaker Dr Shweta Sinha (Chicago). The session was coordinated by Rachna Rashmi and Shivangi.

The speakers discussed the changing role of youth in Hindi literature, the impact of social media, evolving language usage, feminist perspectives and new literary themes. The day also witnessed enthusiastic participation from several schools and colleges across Jharkhand and neighbouring states.

Literary and cultural competitions, including Hasya Kavi Sammelan, street plays, creative writing, quizzes and Radio Srinath activities, added vibrancy to the event. The first day concluded on a high note with active participation, literary exchange and cultural enthusiasm.
