Nine out of 33 given compensation for crops, property destroyed by elephants

Jamshedpur: Nine out of 33 applicants whose crops and houses were destroyed by wild elephants since the past one year had received compensations while the other 24 continue to wait in anticipation. The district unit of JMM Kisan Morcha led by its president Luv Sardar went to the Jadugoda Regional Forest office and expressed anger on the issue of paying compensation to only nine out of 33 applicants. The delegation demanded immediate compensation payment for the remaining applicants. In a written demand note handed to Ranger Alakh Ranjan the JMM Kisan Morcha demanded adequate stock of fire crackers to scare away wild elephant herds from the villages. The delegation members included Gokul Mardi, Sita Ram Hansda, Jagannath Soren, Prabhat Majhi, Abhijit Bhakt and Gram Pradhan Sunaram Bhumij.
