Nine East Singhbhum Players to Represent Jharkhand in Junior National Softball Championship

Jamshedpur, May 26: In a proud moment for East Singhbhum, nine players from the district have been selected to represent Jharkhand in the Junior National Softball Championship. This marks the first time such a large representation from East Singhbhum has made it to the state team.

The 16-member Jharkhand State Softball Team was selected following a rigorous process that included district-level competitions and a state-level selection trial. The team will participate in the five-day Junior National Softball Championship scheduled to be held in Chandigarh from May 27 to June 2, 2025.

The selected players from East Singhbhum are Harsh Kumar Sahu (Shri Krishna Public School), Omkar Singh (Krishna Public School), Anurag Singh (RBS Academy), Naitik Sharma (Krishna Public School, Bistupur), Anshul Kashyap (Motilal Nehru Public School), Ayush Singh (St. Xavier’s School), Annual Sheikh (Krishna Public School), Subhojit Patra (Baharagora) and Sumit Kumar Bera (Baharagora).

The team departed from Mango Bus Stand, Jamshedpur, at 11:30 AM on Tuesday for Ranchi, from where they will travel to Chandigarh by train. Anjana Singh from Jamshedpur has been appointed the team manager, while Dayal Singh Mehra, sports teacher at Shri Krishna Public School, will serve as the coach.

The send-off ceremony was attended by East Singhbhum District Softball Association President Ajay Kumar Sharma, Vice President Baldev Singh Mehra, LallanYadav, Treasurer Shyam Sharma, Assistant Secretary Pawan Upadhyay and the players’ parents. Speaking on the occasion, President Ajay Kumar Sharma extended his best wishes to the team, expressing confidence in their performance and hoping they bring glory to the state.
