Jamshedpur, August 6: Nikhil Singh and Manisha Mashi with 8 and 7 points respectively to their name emerged champions of the 34th East Singhbhum District Chess Championship at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Indrajit Mukherjee, Profesesor of XLRI was the Chief Guest for the ocassion and gave away the prizes to the winners along with other guests including A Kumar, Chiranjee Lal, Mrs.Purabi Ghosh, B.T. Raol and others.
After five days of battle which started on Friday the top ten final standing included Nikhil Singh with 8 points , Anshul Nigan 8, Praveen Kumar 7.5, Kaushal Kr Jha 7.5, Manisha 7, Lokesh Kumar 7, Vatsal Singhbhania 7, Rajesh Kumar jaiswal 7, Pracheta Agarwal 7 and Ajit Mashi with 6.5 points.
Around 200 boys and girls, aspiring to become grandmasters participated in the 34th East Singhbhum District Chess Championship were a total of Rs 14,000 was distributed among the top 20 players from the five groups.
This apart, the winner of each group was given a trophy.
