NHES students plant trees on Earth Day

Jamshedpur, April 23: Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) celebrated ‘Earth Day’ on Saturday. On the occasion an intra school ‘Poster Making’ contest was organized by the Interact Club.

30 students (Std. 5 to Std.10) participated in the contest who displayed their creativity on the topic ‘Save Earth’ while showcasing their awareness about conserving nature.

Around 21 students of class 12 of NHES launched a plantation drive at Bistupur roundabout in front of Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MEDICA) and planted several trees.

“The tree you plant today is a stake in our future. Saving earth is not a one day process. Each day should be celebrated as Earth Day for saving the planet from detoriation, ” said a class 12 student.

The programme was undertaken to create awareness among general public regarding various environmental issues such as global warming, climate change and loss of biodiversity.

To ensure that this effort is sustainable, the school decided to continue to maintain the roundabout in the years to come.

Celebrated globally on April 22 every year since its launch in 1970, Earth Day focuses on current and potential environmental problems.
